Ministry: Russia threshes 139.3 mln tns of grain as of Fri

MOSCOW, Dec 1 (PRIME) -- Russian farmers threshed 139.304 million tonnes of grain in bunker weight from 45.869 million hectares as of Friday compared with 124.612 million tonnes from 45.743 million hectares last year as of the corresponding date, the Agriculture Ministry said in a statement.

The crop yield rose 11.8% on the year to 30.4 metric centner per hectare.

The wheat harvest amounted to 88.04 million tonnes and the barley harvest stood at 21.703 million tonnes.

Agriculture Minister Alexander Tkachyov said in late September that Russian farmers will harvest more than 127 million tonnes of grain in 2017, which was the country’s historical record in 1978.
